German drivers license from Australian Manual (Munich)

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows the specific steps I would need to take for me to have a legal driver's license in Munich?

I have an Australian C-class Manual Car license at the moment, and because I need to do driving for work (I work in an automotive firm), it's quite important. I currently have been using an international driver's license permit which I got while I was still in Australia. But somewhere between the international license saying it is valid gor 1-year (Feb '17), and reading somewhere that international licenses are only valid in Germany gor 6-months, and german drivers licenses being ridiculously expensive, I became scared and basically want to know what I should do when my license expired in 1-year, when I get a permanent contract with my company.

Does anyone have experience with this? Preferably from Australia? ;)
