Live music clubs and lounges (New York)

i will be in NYC end of oct and looking for cool spots with fancy and moving live music (vanguard & blue note are too touristic). Can be cool&funky music or hot&latin. Location should be in Manhattan or Brooklyn. Will be also thankful for cool nightlife locations that are not in every "tourist guide" (pink elephant is nice but also too well known). Thanks for any ideas...
