• Winters are long and dark. Only 45% rate the climate and weather positively.

• The culture can feel homogenous. Britons miss the banter and multiculturalism of home, and describe a lack of chit-chat with neighbours.

• It can feel lonely. Overall happiness (64%) sits below the global average, and reserved locals leave some feeling isolated.
