• People are warm and welcoming. 89% rate locals as friendly and 83% feel welcome, and 70% get by fine without the local language.

• The climate and lifestyle are a draw. 79% rate the climate and weather positively and 86% are happy with life abroad, well above the global average of 70%.

• Healthcare quality reassures. 85% of expats in Thailand rate the quality of medical care positively, against 71% globally.

• Careers and the economy are the weak spot. Just 21% of expats in Thailand rate the local job market positively and 36% say the move improved their career prospects.

• Bureaucracy and politics frustrate. Only 20% find dealing with authorities easy and 28% rate political stability positively (vs. 58% globally).

• The language is hard. Just 13% say Thai is easy to learn, the kind of score that keeps daily admin difficult.

• Import costs and air quality bite. Heavy taxes on imported goods push prices up, and air quality rates just 33%.

For the French, Thailand offers unbeatable value, warm people, great healthcare, and an easy, happy pace of life. The trade-offs are thin careers, bureaucracy, and a hard language. It suits retirees and remote workers more than career-builders.
