A Tapestry of Rhythm: Latin Jazz Big Band and Strings in Harmony
Join me for a vibrant celebration of sound as ALJO + Strings takes the stage for a truly special musical event. Blending the bold energy of an 18-piece big band with the lush textures of a string orchestra, this unique collaboration brings together members of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra under the direction of guest conductor Felipe Tristán.
The program weaves past and present into a rich tapestry—featuring rarely heard gems by Chico O’Farrill, dynamic compositions and adaptations by Arturo O’Farrill, and fresh orchestrations drawn from the Latin jazz tradition. The result is a colorful, genre-crossing experience that feels both timeless and newly imagined.
Presented as part of Carnegie Hall’s United in Sound: America at Protected content , this performance promises an evening of rhythmic vitality, sweeping melodies, and inspired artistry—an invitation to hear familiar sounds in a striking new light.
