Hike through the Urdenbacher Kämpe
Dear Explore the City members,
I am planning another hike which starts in Düsseldorf - Benrath and then explores the Urdenbacher Kämpe.
The Urdenbacher Kämpe is an old channel of the Rhine River which is now cut off from the present course of the Rhine and is an important wetland area which supports alot of different species of birds and wildlife. We will walk up river to the small town of Baumberg and stop there for a drink and snack in a restaurant. After our refreshment stop, we will follow the Rhine River and return to Benrath.
The walk is easy but if raining, the route can be wet and very muddy. Therefore good walking boots or waterproof shoes are necessary. The weather forecast is presently not great (20% chance of showers) so also bring raincoats and warm clothes. The total length of the hike is approximately 15km and flat.
Public transport: Tram/Straßenbahn Line U72
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
