Let's Try Again: A Walk From Baldenysee to Essen-Kettwig

Dear Düsseldorf Explore the City Members,

I have now rescheduled our planned walk as last time the weather did not cooperate and I had to postpone the event.

So lets do another walk and it's a little further away between Düsseldorf and Essen. It will be an easy walk following the Ruhr River from Villa Hügel to Essen-Kettwig.

We will meet at Düsseldorf Hbf and take the S-bahn in the direction to Essen (a return train ticket needs to be purchased - maybe a group ticket if many attendees don't have a Deutschland ticket). We will start our walk on the Baldeneysee which is a lake on the Ruhr River near Essen. We will follow the river, across the dam, down to Werden and then onto Kettwig. On the way, we will stop for drinks and a bite to eat. At Kettwig-Stausee, we will take the S-Bahn back to Düsseldorf.

The walk to Kettwig is on an asphalt path (i.e. no mud!) and is approx. 10 km in length (walking time approx. 2 hours excluding. stops). Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear and be prepared for any changes in the weather. If the weather is forecast to be bad i.e. heavy rain, then I will message all attendees prior to the event saying whether the walk will go ahead or be postponed. By attending this event, you confirm that you are fit and able to participate, and your participation is at your own risk.
