"Hordubal" by Karel Čapek
Dear Book Club friends
In July we will meet to discuss the book "Hordubal" by Karel Čapek, selected by Antonio.
Important note for first-time attendees: if you decide to attend, the group expects you to have read the book and present your opinion.
Here a short description from Amazon.com and Wikipedia.com:
"This trilogy of novels was the culmination of Karel Capek's career. The novels share neither characters nor events; instead, they approach the problem of knowing people—of mutual understanding—in a variety of ways." "Based on a true account published in the newspaper Lidove noviny where the author was a regular contributor, the story is ultimately concerned with the essential unknowability of the inner lives of others, and the impossibility of true communication among men."
Please note: the book is often sold as part of a trilogy called "Three Novels". In our meeting we will only discuss the first one called "Hordubal".
If you are unable to participate, kindly cancel your attendance so that others can join. No-shows from past activities are tracked.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
