“Her distinctive voice grabs your attention the very first time you hear her songs,” writes the Austrian daily newspaper *Die Presse* about singer-songwriter Elsa Steixner. The Vienna native founded the band ELSA in Protected content with Jakob Lang (bass), Julian Bazzanella (keys), and Daniel Louis (drums)—she had met Bazzanella and Louis while studying music at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in the Netherlands. Although all four band members have a solid background in jazz, their music cannot be reduced to a single genre. The quartet’s sound moves confidently between art-pop, singer-songwriter, blues, and improvisational openness—a musical language that remains emotionally accessible without being predictable, and is influenced by the jazz and soul music of African American artists as well as the acoustic pop of the Protected content . ELSA’s latest album, “JUMP!,” features songs that oscillate between catchiness and mystery, between intuition and musical finesse. ELSA tours throughout Europe and has already received numerous awards—including the Start Grant from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Music (AT), the Audience Award at the Avignon Jazz Festival (FR), and the Sparda Jazz Award (DE).
