Day Trip to Deventer
Many of you expressed interest to explore other cities as well, not only Leiden. On this Saturday we go together to the beautiful city of Deventer.
Deventer is an ancient Hanseatic city. It in the province of Overijssel, known for the Deventer Boekenmarkt, the Dickens Festival, and traditional Deventer Koek. It has over 100,000 residents and sits along the IJssel river. The city was founded over 1,250 years ago, making it one of the oldest in the Netherlands.
We meet at Den Haag Centraal at 11am and take the train together to Deventer. The journey takes 1hr 40min. Please only sign up if you don't mind to travel that far in order to explore a new city.
When we arrive, we first have lunch. More info will be provided closer to time. We also visit de Waag museum and take a walk in the city.
Museum De Waag is Deventer's historical museum. From the oldest weighing house in the Netherlands, we will learn about the urban history of the city, the Hanseatic period with its trade and markets and the industries of silversmiths and the famous bakers.
Around 5-6pm we start heading back to The Hague.
