BIKE LOVERS: Pfalz Cycling Tour (Kirn-Bingen)
Dear Bike Lovers,
I would like to discover with you a new cycling path in the "Nahe Valley" starting from from Kirn and arriving to Bingen (around 62 km).
This area is located between north Palatinate region (Nordpfälzer Bergland) and the Rhine-Hessian hill area. The valley, named after the river Nahe, offers a variety of interesting landscape.
Here some details:
How to get there: together by train from Frankfurt
Price: we can share a group ticket, depending on final numer of attendees
Travel time: approx. 3 to 4 hours plus time for sightseeing or wine tasting!
Altitude: Protected content
My plan is to takeProtected content The journey takes good 90 minutes time but the train is direct, so no stress for changing trains ! We can socialize and have breakfast :-) For the way back we can take the train at 18:12 from Bad Sobernheim reaching Frankfurt at 19:36. This connection is direct, too.
The "Nahe Valley" leads from west to east and ends in the Rhine Valley near Bingen. We are going to start out tour in the village called Kirn. From here the landscape becomes flatter and more charming than in the upper Nahe Valley and offers a marvellous view on the vineyards. In general, the area is very interesting because of the reddish "porphyry rock": steep, red stone walls rise from the landscape reminding the Canyons of American national parks.
The villages we are going to cross are mostly health resorts due to their sources of salty water. The destination is the "Nahe estuary" into the Rhine near "Bingen.
The tour is not too long, therefore, we may have the possibility to stop at a vineyard.
More details follow at a later stage.
Depending on the weather the tour may be postponed.
