About this exhibition
They shine, they impress, they dazzle. The Paris Opera's stage jewelry, specially designed to be worn there, contributes as much to the splendor of the institution as to that of its performers.

Yet their materials are anything but precious: brass gives the illusion of gold, colored glass the appearance of precious stones, rhinestones the brilliance of diamonds. Comprised mainly from the Second Empire onward, the fabulous collection of stage jewelry from the Paris Opera, preserved at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, consists of approximately 4,000 pieces and continues to grow today.

The jewelry exhibited here offers a glimpse of these essential accessories that make performances magical.
