I fell in love with the hypnotic, mystic and powerful sounds of the Musicians of the Nile in Protected content , when I travelled to Egypt during my time of training in Egyptian dance. In this series, I will bring you their music and a discussion of social importance of dance and music in societies.

The Musicians Of The Nile (English) or Les Musiciens Du Nil (French) is the name under which the famous Upper-Egyptian folk musician Metqal Kenawi and his troupe was marketed in the west. Metqal plays southern Egyptian folk music locally known as Saidi (Upper-Egyptian) with the Rababa as its main instrument.
