NEW AND IMPROVED day of voluntary activities: outdoors gardening, eating and socializing together.

The event will take place at a vivaio [ nursery] and orto [vegetable garden] –10 minutes from the Metro's Cornelia stop- owned and operated by the last (most likely) contadino family within Roma. They follow traditional Roman agricultural practices and of course the ortaggi [vegetables] are excellent and delicious.

The event will consist of a full day of activities at the garden, commencing at 9AM and ending at 6PM with a lungo pranzo – vegetali e carne all ferro [long lunch -grilled meat and vegetable dishes]. Participants may arrive and leave whenever. Buses from the Metro's Cornelia stop run every 5 minutes.

Activities (all voluntary of course):
– Guided tour of the property – Orto, Vivaio, Fish pond, tree area, “natural” areas.
– help in the garden, harvesting, weeding, potting, repotting, seeding, other agricultural chores
– Help in the fish ponds and garden, including feeding the fish and pruning the aquatic plants
– Lectures on growing, caring, cooking and preserving vegetables and flower plants.
– Roman popular music led and sang by excellent practitioners.

Cost: Suggested donation: E20 for the whole day, including carne all'ferro [grilled meat], vegetarian dishes, wine, water and bread. All basic vegetables used will come from the orto, to the extent available. Proceeds go to the contadino family.
Liberatoria [waiver], by which participants accept all responsibility and liability in case of accident or any other problem to themselves and/or their property.
Complimentary Goodies Bag from the garden, as available – including those guests helped harvest, such as cavalfiore, broccolo, broccolini, insalata, pomodori, melanzana, citriolo, zuccini, zucca, fiori di zucca, meloni, patate, basilico or whatever is available

Hopefully this will be the second of a long series of related activities. Participants may volunteer and become members of the Society to help preserve Classical Roman agricultural practices - and these facilities in particular.
Transportation: Metro to Cornelia Stop. Then, any bus (comes every 4 minutes) to Via Boccea/Nazareth Stop (7 minutes) and then walk 3 minutes.

If the forecast for the 13th is not good, I'll notify you. Expected rain date: October 27th.
