To mark the International Day against Racism, the city of Garching and the Garching Integration Advisory Board - with the support of Open Minded e.V. - are organizing a benefit concert with the international quartet "MET IN MUNICH".

In summer Protected content , Polish cellist Anna Rehker and oud virtuoso Abathar Kmash from Syria met for the first time in Munich. Stefan Noelle, one of the most creative percussionists on the Munich scene, was also there at the time. Together they put together a program ranging from the Baroque to the present day. On the carpet of low string instruments, the oud unfolds the magic of Arabic scales, the maqams. Rousing oriental rhythms - as in the composition "Serap" (= "Fata Morgana") - are combined with European sound culture.
We encounter a cello sonata by Antonio Vivaldi, stroll eastwards with Mozart or the Habanera from "Carmen" and in the next moment breathe in the scent of the eastern Mediterranean. And who would have thought that the intimate ending of the famous cello serenade "Leise flehen meine Lieder" in the MET-IN-MUNICH version would sound as if Franz Schubert had composed it precisely for the oud!

All proceeds from the event will go to the Caritas refugee and integration counseling service Alveni / LKM in the Garching community shelter and to Nachbarschaftshilfe Garching e.V. for integration projects.

Tickets can be purchased from the Cultural Department of the City of Garching or via the website: Protected content
