Life Is Sweet, Just Like Watermelon!

The legendary Kastana Watermelon Festival that we visit every year as IN community is celebrating this year 20 years of Watermelon fun.
The festival is a multi-day event featuring activities the whole family can enjoy. You can hear local and nationally known music acts throughout the event. One of the biggest events of the festival is the Watermelon sculpture and games event. The watermelon-eating contest for children is always a favorite. Festival-goers young and old can enjoy concerts and midway games all weekend. In addition, visitors can check out the tiny flea market and commercial vendors set up through the festival grounds. Food vendors serve both watermelon treats with local slow maturing feta and classic fair food such as local souvlaki and salads. The Kastana Watermelon Festival has so much to offer. You don’t want to miss it!
Although it starts on 12th of July and it will be less crowded for you to go then,we decided to go on 13th of July since its more convinient for most of us.

Unfortunately there is no bus,train etc to this village and if you dont have a car you have to ask from your fellow members to go with them.

For 18 years it was a completly free entrance festival and all you can eat watermelon and feta for free .The last year they started to charge 2 euro per person,it may go up this year,no info for the moment.
