Walburga, is one of Sweden's most beloved traditions and is celebrated on April 30th every year. But why do we do it? πŸ”₯

The celebration has its roots in the Middle Ages, when bonfires were lit to scare away evil spirits and protect both people and livestock. Along the way, a saint from England, Saint Walburga, got involved, and suddenly the celebration got both a saint's name and pagan elements.

Today, Walburga is a party for everyone, where people gather to sing spring songs, listen to speeches and celebrate spring that is finally here 🎢🌷
Here in Helsingborg we often gather by the sea or in parks, around large bonfires, to welcome the light together and leave the darkness of winter behind us πŸ”†
