It Is a Swampy Way to the Gallows...
Dear All,
This hike offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, industrial heritage, and local history. It covers about 8 km and takes roughly Protected content hrs through the remarkable Dietesheim Quarries.
Discover with us the striking basalt rock formations left behind by the former quarry! Since basalt extraction ended in Protected content , the area has been transformed into a unique nature reserve. Forest paths, scenic viewpoints and blue lakes shape a landscape where nature and history meet.
One of the routes most fascinating landmarks is the historic gallows. First recorded in Protected content , it belonged to the High Court of Steinheim and was used for executions until the 18th century.
Today, only the stone pillars remain, with the hiking trail passing directly through them - a quiet but powerful reminder of the area's past.
So, let's step together into the forest and follow a path into the past - to a place where justice was once served!
Are you ready to follow us on the trail?
Looking forward to see you!!!
