Vernissage Henri Matisse - Prints & Drawings
vernissage of two exhibitions
Henri Matisse and Günter Haese
Henri Matisse was one of the most important pioneers of Classic Modernism and a leading proponent of Fauvism. Even the artists of abstract Expressionism in the USA based themselves on him. All his life, he was preoccupied with drawing; it enabled him to try out new ideas and compositions and was the most direct means of expression. He said: "A colourist makes his presence known even in a single charcoal drawing."
Galerie Thomas is pleased to show about 50 works on paper by the great French artist.
This spring, we have the pleasure to be able to present a fourth exhibition of works by Günter Haese at Galerie Thomas. Unfortunately, it is no longer an exhibition during the artist’s lifetime, but we are all the more proud to be able to present an overview of his entire sculptural oeuvre.
Our exhibition spans approximately Günter Haese’s entire creative period and features his sculptures from all phases of his career, from its beginning in the Protected content to the final pieces of his late work.
It is an exhibition that allows the viewer to delve deeply into the universe of an artist whose uniqueness allows for almost poetic experiences of art. Each individual work is such a universe in its own right, but together the assembled works simultaneously produce an impressive presence of quiet delicateness, particularity, as well as the consistent rigor in Haese’s work.
