Women self-defense skills training
In honor of the international Women’s Day, our activity in March is dedicated to women and their self-defense skills. This time, Matthias Büttner will provide to us a self-defense skills training!
Former InterNations’ Campinas ambassador, Matthias has been training and occasionally teaching self-defense skills for over 15 years. His sensei (teacher), Ricardo Nakayama, has developed a self-defense method called SOTAI for situations with knife, pistol and without any arms, largely based on the so called filipino martial arts-FMA (Protected content ). While most of these techniques require lots of repetition and training, a few are actually quite simple and yet powerful to use, even if the attacker is much bigger and stronger than the victim.
Matthias will present these techniques and give the opportunity to try them for those who want. He will also say a few words about risk prevention (the "soft skills” of self-defense) and which of the common martial arts (like Jiu-Jitsu, Kick boxing, FMA) or self-defense techniques (like Krav Maga, Hapkido) are better suited for self-defense in general and for women in particular. In Matthias’ experience, women are often quite surprised and very pleased to discover their self-defense potential as well as the fun and high calories-burning potential that training martial arts can provide!
So, let’s join to this activity on 30 of March - 3:00 p.m in Protected content !
