Silent Writing - NaNoWriMo Special
Let's kick-start this year's National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo) with an extra long silent writing session! For those who don't know NaNoWriMo yet, it's a global challenge to write a novel (50,000 words) in one month. You can find out more about the initiative on their official website: nanowrimo.org.
If you are not working on a novel don't feel discouraged. I, for example, haven't set myself a word goal this year but would like to finish two stories I've been working on. November is a great time to get some work done on your current project: it's cold, it's dark and it's not Christmassy yet. If there is enough interest we can meet every Sunday in November to write!
We'll meet again at the Protected content
After an introduction round, we'll do a quick writing prompt exercise Protected content to get us in the mood to write. Then we'll go upstairs to the main reading hall and we'll start writing. You don't need a library card to enter the ready hall but you need to leave your jacket and bag in a locker on the ground floor. We'll try to sit together if possible.
We'll wrap up around 7pm and those of us who still have time (and energy!) can grab a beer at C.A.D.U. next door and chat.
- this is meant as a motivational event for active writers. The goal is to write for the sake of writing and without pressure. Let the stuff flow as it comes, you can always edit later!
- the general discussion will be in English but everyone can write in the language they normally write in.
- I usually ask people to stay for the entire session but since this is a long one and concentration can be tricky, try to stay as long as you can. Or you can have a break, get some fresh air and another coffee and come back in again.
Looking forward to meeting you and your writing!
