Ticino weekend #8: Muggio + Calanca valleys
Are you ready for weekend #8 in a row in Ticino? (we'll probably arrive to 9)
On Saturday, the idea is to delve into Easter preparations in Mendrisio, as well as explore more of the Muggio Valley, which is often considered as Ticinese Tuscany because of its green hills ( Protected content ). More precisely, let's walk from Castel S.Pietro up to Cragno, following the route indicated on Protected content . Walk should be 3,5 hour long and features two lookout points and the Madonna del Buon Consiglio chapel. We'll end our hike around 3:30-4:00pm in Mendrisio, where we can marvel at the Easter decorations called "trasparenti", that have been put up this week.
For those who would like to stay overnight, the plan for Saturday evening is to either (ambitious choice) head to Losone and watch the modern ballet by Dimitri Circus ( Protected content ) or (relaxing choice) have a walk in Lugano, among blooming cherry trees.
On Sunday, plan is to combine Alpine and Mediterranean landscape by having a hike in Italian-speaking Graubunden, from Buseno lake to Cama (hike is 3,5 hour long and is well described on Protected content or Protected content ), while paying a visit to the majestic Santa Maria Assunta church.
