Journey to 1475: Landshuter Hochzeit

July Protected content .. or July Protected content ? Once again, it's that time of the year when Bavaria warps back to the Middle Ages. Taking over the stage will be Polish princess Hedwig and Bavarian prince George, whose wedding in Protected content so popular, that thousands of people flocked in from all over Europe. Chronicles from that time spoke of gigantic feasts and jousting tournaments.
Shall we add ourselves to the thousands of people? Let's then catch a train and have a Sunday trip to Landshut, so as to witness the Wedding pageant (that's held once every 4 years)
As for Saturday, we might take a peek at one other huge event not far from Augsburg: the Tanzelfest in Kaufbeuren honors emperor Maximilian's visit to the city in Protected content .
As usual, we'll try to add some hiking. On day 1, we can have a walk on the volcanic hill of Rosenegg near Singen, while on day 2 we may venture to Marktoberdorf (or Fussen? We never managed to visit Fussen, but I fear it might be packed with tourists crazy about the Mad King's castles)
More on the Hochzeit on: Protected content
For staying overnight, I suggest Augsburg. Accommodation should be reasonably priced, although we probably aren't eligible to sleep in the Fuggerei district at their very favourable rates 🙂

Augsburg Hbf 17.07. ab 10: Protected content 19:55
