Sami Exhibition

“Eatnamastit” at Protected content .
Protected content is proud to present the most comprehensive exhibition to date in Sweden by the internationally acclaimed Sámi artist Outi Pieski.
In the exhibition “Eatnamastit”, visitors are invited to engage with Pieski’s multifaceted artistic practice through around 50 works, including painting, photography, textile, video, printmaking, and installations. Her work is infused with a powerful presence of nature and Sámi culture, where the relationship between humans and the landscape is placed at the center.
The title “Eatnamastit” can be translated as to ground and anchor oneself in nature—a concept that reflects a central theme in Pieski’s work. Through her art, she brings forward Sámi history, philosophy, and worldview, where reciprocity, respect, and coexistence between humans and nature are foundational values.
Pieski’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in duodji—the Sámi craft tradition that unites philosophy, spirituality, and practical knowledge. For her, duodji is not only a creative method, but also a way to heal from the legacy of colonialism, to reconnect with the land, and to honor the interconnectedness of all living beings.
