The old picturesque boulevard of Kijkduin is still being replaced by modern apartments, shops and restaurants but we can still start our walk on the seaside via the path on the sand dune and turn east at the end in the direction of Ockenburg.

We will walk over the ‘puinduinen’ (rubble dunes) build on the former airstrip Ockenburgh with the rubble from demolition works in The Hague during the 50ties and 60ties of last century. After we left the rubble dunes we will head for a view of the ‘zandmotor’ (sand engine) and the North Sea. The zandmotor was created to protect the beaches north of it.

Via the holiday resort Kijkduin we walk to the former country estate Ockenburgh for a drink (and a bite). From there we walk through the hyacinth forest to the park Madestein where we visit the ’Stenen Kamer’ (Stone Room).

Through the estate park Ockenburgh we turn back in the direction of The Hague and via the park Meer and Bos we return to the starting point of the walk
