At the start of the walk, we pass the De Hooge Boezem pumping station in Haastrecht, a steam-powered pumping station built in Protected content drain the Lopikerwaard.
The pumping station has been out of use since Protected content is now a museum where the original (steam) engines are still on display.

We then walk southeast along the eastern Vlist dike, passing Boezemmolen No. 6, the only remaining of the original seven mills that have stood there since the 15th century. The others were demolished in Protected content they were no longer needed due to the pumping station.

We continue along the Vlist to Schoonhoven, the Silver City of the Netherlands.
Along the way, we can opt for an early lunch at Protected content after approximately 5.7 km, or lunch in Schoonhoven after approximately 10 km.

After the lords of the castle commissioned the first silversmiths in the 14th century, the city developed into a unique center of silver craftsmanship.
You'll find the Dutch Silver Museum there, as well as the Schoonhoven Vocational School – the only place in the Netherlands where students train to become jewelers, goldsmiths, silversmiths, and watchmakers. Throughout the city, you'll find studios, galleries, and workshops of goldsmiths and silversmiths.
