Hidden treasures are disclosed
At few kilometers far from Florence there is the green haven of Pratolino, one of the biggest parks in Tuscany with meadows, forest and ponds, which has been declared Humankinds Heritage by the Unesco in Protected content .
Francesco I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, at the end of the XVI century ordered to his court architect Bernard Buontalenti the project of a monumental park with a marvellous villa.
After his death the place was deserted and the complex ruined.
Nowadays, what remains of the former residence is the restored pages' lodgings which was transformed into the Villa of the Prince Demidov when he acquired the property in Protected content .
We have the opportunity to take part to a guided tour opening wide doors which are usually not allowed to be visited.
The tour of next Saturday, exceptionally will be held in a "double key": a naturalistic and an artistic one; indeed we will be accompanied by an enviromental guide and a touristic guide. The first will introduce the park and its inhabitants, we will be told about the park's transformations over the time and shown the visible trails of the past and running processes.
The touristic guide will talk about the artistic elements and will lead us to visit the colossal Giant of the Appenino, the Buontalenti's Chapel, the Cupido's Grotto and the Villa Demidoff also inside, altough the interiors are usually closed.
The visit will take almost 2 hours time (15: Protected content and it will be held in ITALIAN language.
Since we will walk through a park and we will be mostly at open air, workout clothes, long pants, hiking shoes, poncho or raincoat, a hat and a bottle of water are recommended.
