A Rare Japanese Cult Film in Original Sound (+Italian Subtitles)
Dear members of IN Art & Culture,
we are delighted to invite you to watch a Japanese cult film together at Cinema La Compagnia in Florence: Suicide Club Protected content . The screening will be in Japanese with Italian subtitles.
The film that introduced Sion Sono to international audiences captures the anxieties of the early millennium—Internet, anonymity, and the loss of identity—and reflects them in a chaotic, disturbing, and surprisingly lucid form. Tokyo is shaken by an inexplicable event: 54 schoolgirls simultaneously throw themselves under a subway train, holding hands. Inspector Kuroda and his team begin an investigation to uncover the origins of the phenomenon, but every lead raises further questions: cryptic clues, anonymous phone calls, and a mysterious online platform that seems to record—or even anticipate—events.
Suicide Club Protected content a film that defies easy categorization: it begins as splatter, moves through thriller, veers into pop musical, and ultimately keeps subverting itself.
Let’s meet at the ticket desk at 8:45 PM to buy tickets. The price is €7.
We look forward to seeing you.
