The evening opens with Stravinsky’s The Firebird ( Protected content ), a suite drawn from his celebrated ballet. With its dazzling orchestral colours, rhythmic energy and enchanting, fairy-tale atmosphere, it remains one of the most captivating works of the 20th-century repertoire.
The programme continues with Richard Strauss’s monumental Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30, the symphonic poem inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophical work. Famous for its majestic opening and extraordinary orchestral power, the piece offers a truly thrilling and immersive musical experience.
