"Your Soft Skin" of François Truffaut is about a literary critic who begins a relationship with a flight attendant, while at the same time trying to maintain his relationship with his wife.
According to Truffaut himself, the film explores “an antipoetic notion of love, the opposite of Jules et Jim in a way.” Truffaut draws inspiration here from his hero Alfred Hitchcock. Love is always complicated for Truffaut, but here it hurts, and by telling the story as a frenzied, nerve-wracking thriller, a deep unease is evoked that makes this one of his most underrated and unforgettable films.
