• Healthcare, clean air, and nature reassure. 83% rate healthcare affordability positively, 85% air quality, and 91% the natural environment.

• It's a perfect travel base. Málaga scores 100% for the opportunity to travel, with 94% rating personal safety positively.

• Bureaucracy is the main gripe by far. Just 21% of expats in Málaga find it easy to deal with local authorities, and Britons describe the paperwork as a nightmare.

• Careers and pay are thin. Only 23% rate the local job market positively and 33% say the move improved their career prospects (vs. 55% globally).

• The language gates the social circle. Making friends beyond fellow expats is hard without Spanish, and only about half find it easy.

• Things move slowly. Britons mention a 'mañana' pace that tests patience, and housing affordability rates 35%.

For Britons, Málaga is close to the dream: sunshine, warmth, healthcare, and a relaxed coastal life. The trade-offs are bureaucracy and a weak job market, so it suits retirees and remote workers more than career-builders.
