This position calls for a responsible, organised and trustworthy individual with excellent communication and analytical skills. Ideally candidates must possess strong management skills with experience in client contact coupled with experience in working in a high pressure environment. Excellent knowledge of the Maltese tax system coupled with excellent knowledge of computerised accounting systems is a must while working knowledge of ‘Caseware’ will be considered an asset. Applicants must have excellent written and verbal skills in the English language together with the ability to prioritise workload, handle multiple priorities and work independently. Applicants must be qualified accountants (ACA/ACCA/CPA).
The duties of the Tax Consultant/Auditor will include but are not limited to: providing personal and corporate tax advice to a largely international business client base, involving the application and interpretation of double taxation treatles, EU tax law, as well as Maltese income tax legislation; devising tax-efficient strategies for multinational clients in diverse business situations, including mergers, takeovers and corporate reconstructions; working continually to help ensure that clients make the best business decisions in the light of fiscal change and development; calculating tax liability, ensuring compliance is completed speedily and efficiently, and submitting tax returns and associated documents by the appropriate deadlines; preparing and monitoring od cash flows and budgets; performing statutory audits for Maltese companies; liaising with external auditors, banks, ETC, IRD and VAT departments; assisting with the incorporation of new companies.
