Responsibilities of the Community Engagement Editor:
* increase reader engagement with the Daily Planet ( Protected content )
*share and support the work of other members of the Daily Planet editorial staff, including assigning, editing and posting stories, fact-checking, adding links and formatting, locating photos, etc.
* assume the responsibilities of the Editor in the event of illness or vacation.
*identify voices and issues that are important to diverse Twin Cities communities, and use the resources of the Twin Cities Daily Planet to bring them to a larger audience
*contribute to the development of the Twin Cities Daily Planet as a venue for community conversation and deliberation
*work one-on-one with community members to tell stories in a variety of alternate media formats (photo-essays, video reports, online interviews, etc.)
This position requires a combination of journalism, new media and community organizing skills as well as experience working with diverse communities.
The ideal candidate should also have excellent public speaking and facilitating skills; the ability to create and maintain strong interpersonal relationships,and experience with social networking and online community building. S/he must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
This is a part-time position, with starting pay in the $15-$20/hour range.
