"Casanova À Genève. Un Libertin Chez Calvin" - Guided Visit
Join us for a guided visit of this exhibition on Giacomo Casanova, led by Corinne Borel, exhibition curator.
Beyond the clichés surrounding the character of Casanova, the exhibition highlights his links with Geneva, where he stayed several times between Protected content 1762.
The city was the setting for some significant episodes in his life, including his separation from the mysterious Henriette, his great love, and his duels of eloquence with Voltaire at his property Les Délices – not to mention the romantic intrigues that belied the reputation of Calvin's city for austerity...
Quotations from his memoirs, a first-hand account of the society and customs of Enlightenment Europe, as well as prestigious loans from Geneva and abroad, invite visitors on a fascinating journey in the footsteps of a free man whose story continues to fascinate.
