Explore Munich: Starkbierfest am Nockherberg
You can't say that you know Munich if you've never been to the Starkbierfest am Nockherberg!
We had to wait far too long, but now the time has come: the joie de vivre is back and with it our wonderful Munich traditions!
Serving strong beer at Lent can be traced back to a regulation from the religious order of the Paulaner monastery in Neudeck ob der Au. The Paulaner monks have brewed beer in the monastery for their own consumption at least since Protected content . Their nutrition was, on principle, very modest, even more so during Lent, and therefore they were permitted to brew a stronger version of their ‘liquid bread’ (beer) during this time of fasting.
Alcohol content of "strong beers" is in fact at least seven percent, significantly more than an ordinary beer.
As Germans say: "Flüssiges bricht Fasten nicht" (Liquid does not break the fasting) so let's respect this tradition and enjoy the famous Starkbier (also known as Salvator) together!
For this occasion five tables (grazie Dani and Anna 😘) of 10 people each have been booked. Please note that the tables are not necessarily close to each other.
Zum Wohl (cheers)!
By the way I have added the price of one Maß (1L) for information...nobody forbids you to take more than one 😉... important is to be able to find your way home at the end of the event 😎... or to find someone who "altruistically" brings you to a bed and spends with you all the necessary time to ensure you are well and safe 😋
