Peter Keetman. Gestaltete Welt. (incl. public tour)
public tour of the exhibition starting at 15:00
On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Peter Keetman ( Protected content ) the comprehensive retrospective offers the opportunity to rediscover the photographer's life. After the first stations at the Museum Folkwang in Essen and at the Haus der Photographie in the Deichtorhallen, Hamburg, "Peter Keetman, Designated World" will be shown in the Kunstfoyer of the Versicherungskammer Kulturstiftung, Munich.
The exhibition not only captures Keetman's photographic career, but documents the many-faceted career of the medium of photography under free artistic work and applied work.
With around Protected content , the exhibition presents Keetman as a young savage of the stylistic group in nine chapters. It also shows him as one of the most innovative and poetic photographers of the post-war period, who combined nature and movement studies, photographic experiments, industrial photography and applied work in his oeuvre.
Today, the work of Peter Keetmans is an example of the post-war photo- graphy of Germany. This work takes its origin in the shapeless and fragmented world, in the secrets of National Socialism and the Second World War, from which Keetman came as an invalid. The great originality and power of Keetman was to make this reality photographically new and constructive, at the same time, to the other, to the other, to reconstruction and, above all, to nature, to its most elementary components.
In terms of design, Keetman's photographs deal with formal elements of movement and structure. The rebuilding of Germany, the renewed mobilization, the economic miracle and the new products Made in Germany are abstracted into the picture, as eg Keetman's famous series about the Wolfsburg-based Volkswagen factory from Protected content . At the end of the exhibition is "Keetmans Garten", the landscape of the Chiemgau as the resting place and inspiration source of this extraordinary photographer.
The world has been the first museum show for Peter Keetman for 20 years, which was organized in close cooperation between the foundation F.C. Gundlach and the Museum Folkwang. The exhibition is based on the scientific treatment of the estates, which are located in both institutions.
