First Thursday is on us - again and again, Sammlung Goetz
Every first Thursday night there is a free entry at Haus der Kunst
I would like to take the opportunity, to see the "again and again exhibition"
Video art was already used in the beginning as a medium of artistic self-reflection, because unlike the analogue film, videos allowed the simultaneous reproduction of the filmed material on a monitor. The confrontation with the concepts of the self has lost none of its topicality with regard to gender research, new scientific developments and the progressive self-staging in the mass media and social networks. Artists have constantly expanded the pictorial repertoire through new storytelling techniques in media art such as loop, multi-channel projection and split
The combination of psychology and moving Image examines Kristin Lucas (* Protected content , Davenport, US), Tracey Emin (* Protected content , Croydon, GB) and Doug Aitken (* Protected content , Redondo Beach, US) in their works. At Mathilde Ter Heijne (* Protected content , Strasbourg, FR), Candice Breitz (* Protected content , Johannesburg, SA) and Cindy Sherman (* Protected content Ridge, US) are questions of female identity. Brice Dellsperger (* Protected content , Cannes, FR) Mark Leckey (* Protected content , Birkenhead, GB), Ryan Trecartin (* Protected content , Webster, US) and Matthew Barney (* Protected content , San Francisco, US) broaden the range of gender identities and make the limits appear fluid. The title of the exhibition again and again is the eponymous 1-channel installation by Björn Melhus (* Protected content , Kirchheim under Teck, DE), in which he deals in a humorous manner with the subject of cloning and which is presented on eight monitors.
There are more exhibitions shown, I will update/provide the program of that day once available.
