Alice

Theater: Alice
by Robert Wilson, Tom Waits, Kathleen Brennan
Another Tom Waits/Robert Wilson collaboration, Alice artfully weaves the life of Charles Dodgson and his obsession with Alice Liddell. She was a frequent motif in his photographic work and a role model for the heroine of his famous classic "Alice in Wonderland", which he wrote for her.
At a dangerous turning point in his previously innocent relationship with Alice, Dodgson, to protect her from his desires, whisks her away to a wonderland he has created where he can safely remain at her side. In a scenery of fantastic figures and mysterious, bizarre encounters that constantly oscillates between dream and reality, Dodgson is sometimes an innocent rabbit, sometimes a knight who saves him, and in the process visibly loses the ability to distinguish between fiction and reality.
