The montblanc of Church Music: MASS IN B MINOR from J.S. Bach
Dear classical music lovers,
in case you are still free on Sunday the 26th November, there is a special concert happening in the Herkulessaal of the Residenz.
Johann Sebastian Bach: Mass in B Minor
It’s natural to use superlatives when talking about the B minor Mass. Franz Liszt called it the »Mont Blanc of church music« because in Western sacred music one can’t climb any higher. Its first publisher, Nägeli, regarded it as the »greatest musical work of all time and people«. »For us it’s a long cherished wish«, says Benedikt Haag about his first B minor Mass with the Münchner Motettenchor. »The expectations are great. It will be a very special occasion.«
Lydia Teuscher, soprano
Ingeborg Danz, alto
Sebastian Kohlhepp, tenor
Konstantin Wolff, bass
Benedikt Haag, conductor
