• Nature and the outdoors are spectacular. Mountains, lakes, and trails top the list — 97% of expats in Switzerland rate the natural environment positively and 91% getting around on foot or by bike.

• Transport and travel are superb. 93% rate the availability of public transportation positively and 94% the opportunity to travel across Europe.

• It's stable, safe, and well-run. 92% rate political stability positively, 93% personal safety, and 61% find bureaucracy easy (vs. 38% globally).

• Clean air and green priorities stand out. 89% rate air quality positively and 82% say the government protects the environment.

• Everything is expensive. Just 21% of expats in Switzerland rate the general cost of living positively and 22% housing affordability, with health insurance a particular sting (35% rate healthcare affordability positively).

• Making local friends is very hard. Only 21% say it's easy, and friendliness (51%) and feeling welcome (49%) both sit below global averages.

• The language is a barrier. Just 30% say the local language is easy to learn, which slows integration.

• It can feel closed and quiet. Culinary variety (57%), nightlife (48%), and Sunday closures come up as everyday limits.
