This weekend, we'll do an easy Sunday-morning walk on both sides of the Rhone river.

A suitable train leaves from Geneva (platform 6) at 08:48. Since we remain in the Canton, a normal bus ticket is OK.

While the temperatures are still cool, we'll go up the hill to Avully (75m height difference), continue to Cartigny and then down to the river at the nature reserve " Moulin-de-Vert". We'll cross the Rhone on top of the Verbois dam, and leisurely follow the river downstream, back to La Plaine.

The walk is around 10km, and should take us less than three hours.

Since we are starting early (to avoid the heat) I don't expect to pick-nick on the way, but we'll take a break around mid-way, at Verbois. But those who want can eat and/or drink when we return back in La Plaine.

Bring good shoes, with good grip. (The descent from Cartigny is relatively steep)

Remember to bring plenty of water. Normally, you can refill your bottle both in Avully and Cartigny, but I cannot guarantee it. (They may turn off the fountains)
Also suncream and a hat.

It's possible to bathe in the Allandon river, just before we return. If interested, bring a swim suit.
