Every 7 years, a very special tradition returns: the Schäffler dance. This unique Munich custom is over Protected content old. According to legend, the first time the coopers danced through the city was in Protected content a plague epidemic, in order to give citizens their courage back and lure them back onto the streets, with their colorful costumes and artfully green-decorated hoops – a symbol of hope, joy, and togetherness.

A particularly charming highlight is the clown of the Schäffler dance. With playful grimaces, lively movements, and mischievous exuberance, he makes the audience smile. He symbolizes joy of life, lightheartedness, and the dispelling of worries, a vibrant sign that even after dark times, there is reason to celebrate again.

Another reason for dancing & partying this year: Haar is celebrating its first anniversary since being granted city status.
