• Healthcare is affordable. 74% of expats in Prague rate healthcare affordability positively, above the global average of 61%.

• It's a beautiful, walkable city. 95% rate the natural environment positively and 90% getting around on foot or by bike, with the rest of Europe on the doorstep.

• The language is a steep wall. Just 15% of expats in Prague say Czech is easy to learn, and it can feel lonely not being able to communicate.

• Locals can feel reserved. Only 34% rate friendliness positively, 21% say making local friends is easy, and 43% feel welcome.

• Housing costs are climbing. Just 12% rate housing affordability positively and 26% the general cost of living, amid inflation and rising rents.

• Bureaucracy takes patience. Only 22% find it easy to deal with local authorities, and the medical system is hard to navigate without Czech.

For Americans, Prague offers safety, beauty, culture, affordable healthcare, and an unbeatable base for exploring Europe. The trade-offs are a hard language, reserved locals, and rising housing costs. It rewards those who invest in the language and the long game socially.
