The points below reflect what Indian expats in Doha wrote in their own words, backed up by survey percentages from all expats living there.

The downsides of Doha for Indian expats
-
Jobs and residency feel insecure. Only 36% of expats in Doha rate the local job market positively, and the lack of a path to permanent residency weighs on people.
-
Costs and housing bite. Just 27% rate housing affordability positively and 30% the general cost of living.
-
The climate and thin greenery wear on people. Only 32% rate the climate and weather positively and 52% the natural environment, with the summer heat and a wish for more greenery.

Bureaucracy can be slow. Government paperwork is described as time-consuming, and overall happiness (58%) sits below the global average of 68%.
