  • It's safe and welcoming. Indians mention safety and a discrimination-free feel most, and 92% of expats in Doha rate personal safety positively, against a global average of 80%.

  • The economy and healthcare are strong. 84% rate the state of the economy positively, 81% political stability, and 88% the quality of medical care.

  • Life is balanced and easy. Indians praise a good work-life balance with plenty of leisure, sport, and family time, backed by 92% rating public transport positively.

  • English gets you far. 79% of expats in Doha find it easy to get by without the local language, well above the 48% global average.

  • Jobs and residency feel insecure. Only 36% of expats in Doha rate the local job market positively, and the lack of a path to permanent residency weighs on people.

  • Costs and housing bite. Just 27% rate housing affordability positively and 30% the general cost of living.

  • The climate and thin greenery wear on people. Only 32% rate the climate and weather positively and 52% the natural environment, with the summer heat and a wish for more greenery.

  • Bureaucracy can be slow. Government paperwork is described as time-consuming, and overall happiness (58%) sits below the global average of 68%.
