There’s no doubt about it: Geneva is Switzerland’s most global city. The financial center is a lakeside city known for its high quality of life but equally high cost of living, being home to numerous international organizations, including headquarters of the WHO, WTO, and Red Cross, and much more! With the comprehensive transportation network with trams and buses (Transports Publics Genevois), ferry services run by two companies, and regional and international train connections, navigating your way around the city from one place to the next is simple. This also means that if you don’t want to live among the hustle and bustle of the center, you can enjoy a quieter life in neighboring towns, including for example French Annemasse, Saint-Julien-en-Genevais, which are no more than a 30 to 40-minute train ride away from Geneva’s center.
