It's a beautiful country. There are plenty of outdoor activities during all seasons. The culture is wonderful, and if you're able to find employment, Swiss salaries are difficult to exceed.

What Americans don't like about Geneva

Personally, I dislike the high cost of living and the healthcare system.

Shockingly, I witnessed number of racial issues since moving here from the US. Moving and other admin costs can be unclear and can add to a lot. Utility bills seem irregular and there is no way to set-up online payments.

Housing is not great at all but is very costly. Compared to many places, housing has a very poor quality/price ratio in terms of size and comfort.

Obtaining a visa or work permit as a non-EU citizen is incredibly difficult. The cost of living is also high, however, if you have a job then it's manageable.

It's commonly known that the Swiss are less likely to add new friends to their inner circles. I have expat friends, but this is the first international location where I have lived that I didn't make any local friends. That's unfortunate.
