We seek enthusiastic Dutch or Dutch/German or German Speaking Tour Directors to join our team. ATI's Tour Directors are the best in the business due to the fact that we are highly selective and provide practical interviewing opportunities, for you to have the opportunity to better know ATI and for ATI to better know your skills and expertise.
The ATI Tour Director leads a group of 20 or more individuals for 7 to 20 days on a motorcoach excursion of the United States of America, in coordination with one bus driver. ATI offers a large number of tours which include the Great Southwest, the Great American Crossing and the Grand East/Eastern Cities tours. Previous experience, although welcomed, is not required. We are most interested in your communication and interpersonal skills in combination with your interest in taking superior care of our passengers on tour, making sure they have the most enjoyable vacation possible.
What is the role of a Tour Director?
The Tour Director's role is to oversee every facet of the customer's travel experience. Acting as a Field Representative for ATI, the Tour Director must exercise his or her independent judgment, and deal with every situation in a professional, well-informed and timely manner.
As a Liaison between ATI, various suppliers and customers, the Tour Director performs an absolutely critical public relation role. The Tour Director must be able to answer questions passengers may have about the company, handle complains and deal with supplier or problems/questions that arise on tour.
While the basics of the itinerary are outlined for the Tour Director, the commentary, rest stops, restaurants and overall planning of each day is the responsibility of the Tour Director. It is essential for You to be well-organized, with the ability to quickly locate additional information for passengers upon request (through the internet or books you carry on tour). Pronunciation and diction must be precise at all times in the languages spoken on tour.
The passengers on tour will depend on You to always be the leadership professional, well-mannered, polished and conservative in appearance and, customer service oriented. You will receive unusual or difficult requests, you will have passengers on tours that have physical limitations and require special assistance. Emergencies will come up. Depending on each situation, advanced planning and stellar judgment for real-time decision making will be required to accommodate them. You must be prepared for every possibility. The ability to think on your feet and make independent decisions with ease and grace is critical.
• Fluent in Dutch, German or the combination of Dutch/German spoken language
• Hold current right to work status in the USA (and be able to provide documentation to support status)
• Reside in any location. Tours will be assigned from one of two departure points: Los Angeles and New York City
• Excellent USA geographical knowledge
