I wish I'd found InterNations sooner: It would have made my first few month as an expat in London much less overwhelming.

Learn What It's Like to Live in Bristol

Home to more than 430,000 people, Bristol can be found enveloped in the stunning hills of the south-west and is close to the South Cotswolds. The city has a long history stretching back to the Iron Age, and was once one of the key cities in Roman Britain, but its current layout owes much to the success of its maritime heritage from the 15th century onwards. Bristol is a city that attracts outdoorsy types as it has dozens of parks and was named as the UK's first ever cycling city in 2008. Seven years later, it was also recognized as the Green Capital of Europe. However, it isn't just great scenery and rich history that attracts expats to Bristol. The city has the sixth largest Gross Value Added (GVA) in England and was one of the few places that continued to enjoy economic growth during the recent global recession. Aeronautics is a big industry in and around the city, while job opportunities are plentiful in the public sector and in financial services.

Become a Part of Our Network for Expats in Bristol

InterNations provides a safe and secure environment for expatriates from all four corners of the earth. Our membership is by approval only to ensure the platform remains the safe and secure resource that it is today, and you are encouraged to ask any questions you feel suitable. Some InterNations members are fully versed in the ins and outs of UK work permits, while others are experts in culture and can give you tips on how to make the most of your time in the city. Plus, exhaustive guide articles can further provide you with the information you need. We also organize real life events because we believe growing new social circles is one of the hardest tasks when moving abroad and we want to support you in this regard, too. So feel free to join some of our Bristol Groups, take part in their activities, and attend our official events — we look forward to meeting you!
