There are so many expats in the UAE, but the InterNations Dubai Ramadan dinners brought some wonderful guests together.

Dubai is such an overwhelming mixture of tradition and modernity that I was very grateful for all the support from other expats.

Egyptians in Dubai: The Pros & Cons of Expat Life
Thinking about moving to Dubai as an Egyptian? These pros and cons come from the InterNations Expat Insider 2026 survey, in which thousands of expats around the world share what they like and don't like about life abroad each year. The points below reflect what Egyptian expats in Dubai wrote in their own words, backed up by survey percentages from all expats living there.
What Egyptians love about living in Dubai
-
Safety is the standout. Egyptians mention it most, and 96% of expats in Dubai rate personal safety positively, against a global average of 81%.
-
It's cosmopolitan and social. A diverse, harmonious mix of nationalities and a great social scene come up often, with 87% rating culture and nightlife positively.
-
Careers and the economy are strong. 93% rate the state of the economy positively and 81% say the move improved their career prospects, with tax-free pay.
-
It's clean, organised, and easy to live in. 70% find bureaucracy easy and 80% get by fine in English, with constant progress that Egyptians praise.

The downsides of Dubai for Egyptian expats
-
It's expensive, and rental rules are harsh. Just 30% of expats in Dubai rate the general cost of living positively and 29% housing affordability, with penalties if you're forced to leave a lease early.
-
Pay can hinge on nationality and gender. Egyptians mention salary differences by nationality and gender as a real frustration.
-
The summer heat wears on people. Only 48% rate the climate and weather positively.
-
There's no path to permanence. No route to residency or citizenship, and job insecurity, come up as a limit on putting down roots.

For Egyptians, Dubai offers exceptional safety, a cosmopolitan social life, strong careers, and tax-free pay close to home. The trade-offs are the cost of living, the heat, and pay that can hinge on nationality, with no path to permanence. It rewards those who come with a solid role and clear savings goals.
