The Manufacturing and Services Team is looking for a native Mandarin Chinese-speaking intern to support the business communication, research and deal execution efforts of the team with potential Chinese clients that are looking at investing in EBRD's countries of operations, including Central Asia and Central and Eastern Europe.
Please refer to the link below for more information on the Manufacturing and Services team: The opportunity will last initially for 6 months. The intern will be based in our headquarters in London and you may be required to travel. The internship will be on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
The intern will work on a variety of tasks, including:
•Researching and preparing reports on background information relevant to business activities in China. These could be sector- or client-focussed;
•Reviewing company, economic and financial information
•Researching and preparing reports on potential investors from China, and looking at these companies' investment plans in EBRD's countries of operations.
•Financial analysis of annual reports/financial statements of clients in Chinese language, based upon information provided by potential clients and other local China-related sources;
•Research on other organisations of relevance to developing financing opportunities in those countries;
•Supporting Principal and Senior Bankers on preparing the documents required for EBRD credit process.
•Researching market and industry data to identifying potential clients
•Developing and maintaining databases
•Other relevant tasks assigned by the Manufacturing and Services Bankers.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
•Native or quasi-native Mandarin Chinese language skills (verbal and written communication skills);
•Strong analytic skills with regard to reading, analysing and interpreting financial statements (Chinese accounting standards and how these compare to IFRS) of companies in China;
•Previous experience in the Chinese-speaking arena with leading banks, auditing/consulting companies will be useful;
•Strong academic background, preferably with a degree obtained from a leading university in a Chinese and European/North American/Third country.
•Candidates may be MBA students or articled with legal firms but should have had some practical work experience in the banking/financial sector and good knowledge of the Chinese business environment.
•Fluency in the English language and strong proficiency in written English.
